| During your first
session Sarah will do a thorough intake process that
includes a medical history form and discussion about
your lifestyle, stress level, and painful areas. In
the first session you will begin to set goals that you
wish to achieve with bodywork.
For massage sessions Sarah leaves the room so that
undressing takes place in private. You then lay down
on the massage table under sheets and a blanket. Clients
are encouraged to remove all their clothes so there
is complete access to all muscle groups. However, some
clients are more comfortable leaving their underwear
on. During the massage only the part of the body being
massaged is undraped, ensuring that your modesty is
respected at all times.
Craniosacral sessions
vary, but if no massage is expected, you will usually
stay dressed and should make sure to wear comfortable,
non-restrictive clothing. Most sessions take place on
the massage table, but sometimes it is more appropriate
for you to be in another position, including sitting,
or on the floor with cushions. Sarah will monitor the
craniosacral rhythm with her hands and encourage the
body’s natural instinct to correct the sources
of pain and dysfunction using gentle techniques to encourage
release of harmful patterns. Emotional releases or crying
may take you by surprise but are perfectly normal.
At the end of massage and craniosacral sessions you
are given time to ease back into the world. After you
are dressed Sarah rejoins you to follow-up with your
experience in the session and discuss how the work might
continue to grow within you.
